Hi Rose, That's great you have chosen the one you feel will make a difference. I wish you every success with it. It's a mine field out there with all the different drugs, but when you find one which helps it makes all the difference. Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year to You and your family. And a positive outcome for you. Lorna x

i've just been reading through the Drugs section,
i have an appointment brought forward for me to the 26th January.
i'm not doing that well on Methotrexate ( convinced it's not helping with my sleep pattern ) and Hydroxy. i'm not in a lot of pain but the RA is active.
spoke to my Rheumy Nurse yesterday and she said the next step is Anti-Tnf's, which the Consultant also suggested in December but i had to try Hyroxy to have failed on two.
feeling anxious about it as i was with starting Methotrexate ... but i can't fault the support my Rheumy Department has given me.
also got some leaflets i picked up from the NRAS meeting i went to last September.
no idea what Drug will be adviced yet or if you get the choice.
it seems Humira has been around the longest though.
Suzanne x
P.S. to Rose,
have you started on Humira yet..?

Hello Suzanne
Sorry I have not had a laptop(it died on me) Got a new one and my sister in law sorted it for me today. So now up and running. Just poorer by £350. . . .
I hope that you are able to stay on MTX and that the Hydrox works for you as you don't want to go on TNF treatment unless absolut necessary. I have been on my previous DMARDS since Nov 2008 so I have tried a lot of diff ones .
Still not got a date yet I really hope I hear within the next 2 weeks. (I have had my 2 councilling sessions) . Not looking forward to it though.
As you say there are so many diff drugs out there. The only reason I thought about Humira was as it had been about for so long. As they all appear to have similar side effects and what suits one person will not suit another.
Good luck
Rose

hi Rose,
fantastic news i really hope they work for you too.
i went for my Appointment this morning, have to back back in one month for second lot of Tests then i'll be going onto Anti-TFN's as well, i've already met the criteria on this first Test ... my Rheumy Nurse thinks it will be Cimzia.
a lot to take in and absorb, feeling tearful like i did at the start of being diagnosed and very tired.
i'll post my own Thread once i know what's what with me.
let us know how you are geting on Rose, everything crossed here for you.
take care,
Suzanne x

Sorry you were so tired but pleased that you do not have the Hospital run to do at the moment.

Hi Rose Great news! Hope they contact you soon and you can get on with the job! The box for the syringes ... is that the sharps bin? If so you don't need to stick that in the fridge, it can go in any safe place. Mine sits on top of the bathroom cabinet. Blimey an A4 wallet, are they expecting you to take a course in Humira? I got an instruction leaflet, no wallet, no nurse Heyho it looks as though things are improving! Good luck Rose, I really hope this is the drug for you. Thinking about you, keep us posted Lyn x PS Are you coming up to Stratford Upon Avon for the meet up now it's nearer to you? It would be lovely to meet you! x

Hi Rose - just wondering if you got any response from the nurse? It does seem ridiculous not to be starting when you have the drugs at the ready, just for the want of a 30 mins appointment!
Sorry to hear that work is being difficult for you. I would have thought they would have to wait for the effects of this new treatment to kick in before they could suggest (or make you feel) that you should step down. make sure you keep a log of everything and speak to your union Rep if there are thinhs that you are unhappy about. Let us know how you ge on XX Ailsa
